This tank will work on 1971–75 Maverick / Comet, but you MUST use straps number D7DZ-9092ST to install this 19-gallon tank in 1971–75 models, because these vehicles did not have a 19-gallon tank and the original straps are too short.
For 1971–73 Mavericks / Comets, it may be necessary to pull the valance away from the tank slightly.

NOTE: This tank has a smaller emission hole than the 1971–75 tank, so if you are installing this tank in a 1971–75 car, you will need a vapor valve grommet (part number E7DZ-9B593VG).
If you are installing this tank in a 1976–77 car, you may also want to purchase the vapor valve and grommet (part numbers E7DZ-9B593VG and F6TZ-9B076AA) because the old valve and grommet are very difficult to remove without damaging them.
